Patna , Feb 25 (Reporter) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that Patna Medical College Hospital ( PMCH) was being developed as a world-class Hospital at an accelerated pace.
Addressing the centenary celebrations of PMCH here on Tuesday, Kumar said the centre and state both were extending all possible help in this mission.
Outlining the achievements of his government in the health sector since he came to power in November 2005, Kumar said that earlier there were only 6 Government Medical College hospitals in the state which has now increased to 12. He said in addition to this 14 new medical College Hospitals were being constructed of which eight were being established with the help of the Central Government.
Kumar reiterated that he has decided to establish Government Medical College Hospital in every district.
Giving details of the development Plan for making PMCH a world-class hospital, Kumar said that the capacity of its beds was being increased to 5400. The first phase of the construction has been finished and the second and third phases were in progress.
He said the bed capacity of the other five Medical College hospitals was also being upgraded to 2500. In addition to this, the IGIMS was also being expanded up to 3000 bed capacity.
Outlining the importance of PMCH, Kumar said it was established on February 25, 1925, at a time when there was a handful of Government Medical College hospitals in the country. The PMCH had special value and people from other states visited here for treatment.
Kumar said, earlier only 39 patients visited Primary Health centres in a month and now the number has gone on an average 11000 per month. This was possible only by providing better treatment facilities.
The Chief Minister also outlined the achievements of his governments in other sectors including Education, Road, Energy, Law and Order, Agriculture, Panchayati Raj and others...////...
