Aizawl, Feb 25 (Reporter)) The Mizoram government signed an agreement with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) on Tuesday to boost financial backing for micro and small enterprises under the state’s ‘Banakaih’ scheme.
The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed on Tuesday at SIDBI’s Aizawl office by Mizoram Commerce & Industries Secretary Lalzirmawia Chhangte and CGTMSE CEO Manish Sinha. Mizoram State Policy Coordination Committee (MSPCC) Vice Chairman KC Lalmalsawmzauva was present at the event.
The agreement is part of the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) scheme, a joint initiative of the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) and SIDBI. The CGTMSE typically guarantees 75-85% of MSME loans, but under ‘Banakaih,’ SIDBI will raise this to 95%, with the Mizoram government acting as the guarantor.
The signing event was attended by representatives from partner banks, including the State Bank of India (SBI), Mizoram Rural Bank (MRB), Mizoram Cooperative Apex Bank (MCAB), and officials from the state finance department.
