PM to begin hurricane tour to four states, including Sikkim & Bengal

Kolkata/Gangtok, May 29 (Reporter) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday is scheduled to make a two-day hurricane official tour to Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh and is expected to unveils development projects worth Rs 70,000 crore in those states, official sources said. Modi is expected to reach Gangtok, capital of tiny Himalayan state of sikkim around 11 AM to participate in the 50th year of " Statehood Day", to mark the historical moment as the former Chogyal Kingdom became part of Indian Union as the 22nd state in 1975. He will also unveil a series of infrastructure, energy, transport, healthcare, and welfare projects for the strategically located Sikkim, underscoring the Centre’s commitment to comprehensive regional development and improved quality of life for citizens across multiple sectors. The event marks 50 years of Sikkim’s Statehood, celebrated under the theme “Sunaulo, Samriddha and Samarth Sikkim”, in which state governor Om Prakash Mathur, chief minister Prem Singh Tamang and his host of cabinet ministers, top Army and civilian officials and the politicians both ruling and opposition to take part PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several key projects in the state, including A 500-bedded district hospital in Namchi (south) worth over Rs750 crorea passenger ropeway at Sangachoeling, Pelling in Gyalshing district, a statue of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Atal Amrit Udyan in Gangtok.He will also release a commemorative coin, souvenir coin, and a postage stamp to mark the occasion. Thereafter Modi will take a helicopter to reach Alipurduar district in West Bengal's northern district around 2 PM for unveiling clean energy infrastructure.He will also lay the foundation stone of a Rs 1,010 crore City Gas Distribution (CGD) project covering Alipurduar and adjacent Cooch Behar districts . The Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to over 2.5 lakh households to be benefitted in the agrarian areas and clean energy to over 100 commercial and industrial units The Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to vehicles via 19 planned stations in north Bengal as this initiative aligns with the government’s goals for energy transition and regional employment generation.He will also hold a public rally at Alipurduar Parade Ground where the BJP karyakartas and leaders will be present. Thereafter Modi will visit Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in his two-day whirlwind tour to the four states...////...
