Srinagar, Aug 20 (Reporter) Apparently miffed over not being given a mandate, Peoples Democratic Party chief spokesperson Suhail Bukhari quit the party on Tuesday.
The PDP is facing an internal crisis as several party leaders have shown their resentment for sidelining them while deciding the mandate for constituencies.
A journalist-turned-politician PDP chief spokesperson, Bukhari, said that he had resigned from the basic membership of the party.
“We are seeing that those people who were with the party during the toughest times are being sidelined. Their sacrifices and contributions are not being considered. And now all these people are being ignored, and those who deserted the party,” Bukhari said. “Even these people who stood loyal to the party during these years were not taken on board over mandated distribution, which is very sad. In these circumstances, I feel uncomfortable, and keeping these entire things in mind, I have submitted my resignation to the party president.”
Suhail Bukhari was likely to be the party candidate from Wagoora-Kreeri, but the recent return of former minister Bashaarat Bukahri to the PDP diminished his chances of getting the ticket.
Not only Suhail, but District Development Council member Tral Harbaksh Singh resigned from the PDP and joined the Awami Itehad Party (AIP).
However, the PDP got a boost on Tuesday when former minister Abdul Haq Khan returned to the party, two years after he “resigned” from the party.
PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, who visited Khan’s residence, told reporters he has now rejoined the party.
The PDP has so far released two lists of constituencies in charge, and in all likelihood, they are party candidates. On Monday, the PDP named eight candidates as constituencies in charge...////...
