Opposition AIADMK, BJP walks out of TN Assembly, boycotts budget speech

Chennai, Mar 14 (Reporter) The main Opposition AIADMK and the BJP staged a walk out from the Tamil Nadu Assembly over the recent ED raids on state-owned TASMAC and distilleries that unearthed Rs 1,000 crore irregularities on Friday. They also boycotted the State budget presented by Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu on the opening day of the session today. Later, talking to reporters outside the Assembly premises, Leader of the Opposition and AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami cited the recent ED raids in Tasmac that revealed irregularities to the tune of over Rs 1,000 crore and demanded the resignation of the DMK government. He said the AIADMK members staged a walkout as Speaker M. Appavu refused permission to raise this issue as well as the no-confidence motion against him. BJP members too staged a walk out.
