Jammu, May 27 (Reporter) Inspector General Border Security Force, Jammu Frontier, Shashank Anand on Tuesday said that the force is proud of its women troops, who equally shouldered responsibilities and remained on the front-foot during ‘Operation Sindoor’ and gave a befitting response to the enemy along the International Border.
“We successfully carried out the ‘Operation Sindoor’ and in this entire episode, the women troops of BSF enthusiastically participated,” IG Anand told media at his maiden press conference here at the Frontier Headquarters.
“They (women troops), although had an option, if they wanted, could have relocated themselves from the border outpost to the headquarters, but our brave ‘seema prahari’ stayed on the forward posts and effectively replied to the enemy,” he said.
The IG however, also lauded Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari and others namely Constables Manjeet Kaur Mahina, Sami, Malkit Kaur, Jyoti, Sampa and Swapan for guarding the border.
IG Anand also revealed that the BSF has planned to honour the fallen soldiers by naming border posts as “Sindoor” after them in the Samba sector.
“Three jawans, including one from the army, lost their lives in the cross-border shelling,” he added and said that a proposal has been made to name two of the BoPs on the BSF personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.
