Northwest India to witness fresh spell of heatwave from tomorrow: IMD

New Delhi, June 8 (Reporter) A fresh spell of heatwave conditions is likely to commence over Northwest India from Monday, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday. According to IMD, heat wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of northeast Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal from June 8-12; Odisha, Punjab, Haryana during June 9-12; Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh during June 10-12. “Heat wave conditions likely to continue over parts of east & eastcentral India, Uttar Pradesh and northeast Madhya Pradesh during the next 5 days,” the IMD said. On southwest monsoon, the IMD said that it has advanced into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, south Maharashtra, Telangana and some parts of south Chhattisgarh, south Odisha and some more parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh today. Conditions are favourable for further advancement of Southwest Monsoon into remaining parts of central Arabian Sea, some more parts of Maharashtra (including Mumbai) and Telangana during the next 2-3 days, the IMD said. The IMD predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall likely over Maharashtra and Coastal and North Interior Karnataka during the next 5 days with isolated extremely heavy falls over Maharashtra during 8th to 11th; Karnataka on 08th-09th June. The weather department further forecast rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3°C over East India during the next 2 days and by 3-4°C over Northwest India except Rajasthan during the next 5 days. No significant change in maximum temperatures very likely over Central India during next 3 days and rise by 2-3°C thereafter, the IMD said...////...
