New Delhi, June 8 (Reporter) Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi after joining the oath-taking ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhaban on Sunday evening.
The Bangladesh PM, who arrived earlier in the day on board a Biman Bangladesh flight, will also attend the state dinner hosted by President Droupadi Murmu.
She is slated to attend several other programmes in New Delhi on Sunday, before returning home on Monday.
Earlier, on her arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, the Bangladesh PM was accorded a cordial welcome.
She was received warmly by Secretary (CPV & OIA) Muktesh Pardeshi on her arrival, besides other senior officials of the Indian government and Bharatiya Janata Party leaders. Artistes, including Manipuri artistes, danced and sang in greeting for the visiting dignitary.
MEA spokesperson said of the Bangladesh PM’s visit: “This visit of one of our most valued partners will further strengthen India-Bangladesh close and deep-rooted bonds of friendship.”
In her message of congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina said: "On behalf of the people of Bangladesh and on my behalf, I wish to extend my heartfelt congratulations to you on the resounding victory of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 18th Lok Sabha elections.".
"As the leader of the largest democracy in the world, you carry the hopes and aspirations of the people of India. Your convincing victory is a testament to the trust and confidence that the people of India have placed in your leadership, commitment, and unwavering dedication to the country.”
She hoped that the friendly and close relations between the two countries would continue in all sectors during Modi's new term...////...
