Patna, Jan 4 (Reporter) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced to give 12 lakh government jobs and 34 lakh employment to the people in 2025. While reviewing the progress of the ongoing schemes in Gopalganj Kumar said on Saturday that his government has already provided employment to 24 lakh people. Outlining details, he said that till 2020 government jobs were given to 8 lakh people and later the target was increased from 10 lakh to 12 lakh. Kumar said that his government is striving for progress of every section of the society. To accomplish this mission, 94 lakh poor families were identified during caste survey and financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each was being extended to every family for their livelihood. Outlining the details of the schemes introduced and the achievements of his government in every sector since he came to power in 2005, Kumar said that his government laid extra emphasis to improve the quality of health and education along with other infrastructure. For women empowerment, the Chief Minister reiterated that his government provided 50% reservation to the women in Panchayati Raj Institutions and Civic bodies following which a large number of them were elected in such bodies. In addition to this 35% reservation has been given to the women in government jobs. He also highlighted the success of self-help groups and the innovative Jeevika didi scheme. While reviewing the progress of the schemes Kumar directed the district magistrate to keep an eye on the trouble mongers and facilitate better execution of the schemes. Kumar said that he has decided to increase the price of sugarcane by Rs 20 per quintal. He said the price of sugarcane has already increased by Rs 10 per quintal and the rest would be implemented soon, expenditure of which would be incurred by the government.
