Vadodra, Jan 12 (Reporter) Unbeaten centuries from Karun Nair and Dhruv Shorey propelled Vidarbha to a commanding chase of 292, securing their place in the semifinals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy with a comprehensive 7-wicket victory over Rajasthan. Nair, the Vidarbha captain, continued his remarkable form, scoring an unbeaten 122 to register his fourth consecutive century and fifth of the season. With this knock, Nair has amassed 664 runs in the competition, averaging a stellar 664 as he has been dismissed only once in six innings. Shorey, his batting partner, contributed equally to the chase, finishing on 118* off 131 balls, including ten fours and three sixes. The pair shared an unbroken 200-run partnership for the second wicket, which saw Vidarbha race to their target in just 43.3 overs. Earlier, Shorey had provided a solid foundation with a 92-run opening stand alongside Yash Rathod before Nair joined him at the crease. Nair, known for his aggressive stroke play, took just 82 balls to reach his century, hitting 13 fours and five sixes, guiding Vidarbha to victory in style. Rajasthan’s innings, after being put in to bat, faltered early as they lost two quick wickets. Abhijeet Tomar and Manav Suthar were both dismissed within the first eight overs, leaving Rajasthan at 15 for 2. However, a 71-run partnership between Mahipal Lomror and Deepak Hooda revived their innings, but both players fell in quick succession. Shubham Garhwal (59) and Kartik Sharma (50) then added a vital 82-run stand for the fifth wicket, before Deepak Chahar’s late hitting (31 off 14 balls) lifted Rajasthan's total to 291. Yash Thakur was the standout bowler for Vidarbha, claiming 4 wickets for 39 runs, including the key dismissals of Garhwal and Kartik. With this convincing win, Vidarbha will face Maharashtra in the second semi-final, scheduled for January 16 in Vadodara...////...
