Hyderabad, May 14 (Reporter) Telangana Revenue, Housing, Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy paid a courtesy call on Governor Jishnudev Varma on Wednesday. During the meeting, the Minister briefed the Governor in detail about the implementation of the Bhu Bharati Act and the Indiramma Housing Scheme, both flagship initiatives of the State Government. He informed the Governor that under the Indiramma Housing Scheme, the State Government is sanctioning 4.5 lakh houses this year, allocating 3,500 houses per legislative representative. Additionally, in alignment with the Governor’s vision and the Chief Minister’s guidance, an extra 500 to 700 houses are being allotted to tribal constituencies. Furthermore, 10,000 houses are being sanctioned for Chenchu families within ITDA limits. The Minister emphasised that in the first phase, houses are being prioritised for the poorest of the poor. He also mentioned that Indiramma houses have been sanctioned in villages adopted by the Governor, including Poosukunta in Kothagudem district, Gogulapudi in Bhadradri district, Bhurki and Mangli in Adilabad district, and Appapur and Baurapur in Nagarkurnool district. Speaking on the Bhu Bharati Act, the Minister explained that it was introduced to provide a permanent solution to land-related issues that have persisted in the state for the past decade. Initially implemented as a pilot project in four mandals from the 17th of last month, the Act is now being extended to 28 mandals from the 5th of this month. He added that applications are being accepted free of cost, and proactive efforts are underway to address land disputes.
