Mumbai, May 26 (Reporter) Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to field first against Mumbai Indians in Match 69 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium here on Monday, setting the stage for a high-stakes contest with playoff implications. Punjab, bolstered by the return of Kyle Jamieson and Vijaykumar Vyshak, are looking to strengthen their position in the tightly-contested league table. “We are going to bowl first. I let the action talk more than words. It’s their job to go and execute,” Iyer said at the toss, underlining the do-or-die nature of the clash. Mumbai, led by Hardik Pandya, find themselves in a late resurgence, with several favourable results over the past week reigniting their top-two playoff hopes. "Looks like a good track, let's see. It is a good toss to lose. We didn't mind either batting or bowling,” said Pandya, reflecting on MI’s recent form. “For us to be in this situation, a lot of results had to go our way. Just one change – Ashwani Kumar comes in.” Mumbai’s playing XI features a strong pace attack led by Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult, with Deepak Chahar and Mitchell Santner providing support. The batting will once again rely on the experienced trio of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and the in-form Ryan Rickelton. Punjab’s top order, comprising Priyansh Arya, Josh Inglis, and Shreyas Iyer himself, will look to chase down the target efficiently on what appears to be a flat surface under lights. The middle order will be backed by allrounders Marcus Stoinis and Marco Jansen, while the pace attack will be spearheaded by Arshdeep Singh. As the league phase nears its conclusion, both teams are eyeing for top-two finish, making this an exciting encounter...////...
