MERI hosts workshop on media credibility

New Delhi, Sep 6 (Reporter) The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Management, Education, and Research Institute (MERI) here organised a workshop on "Credibility Challenges in Media" to discuss effective communication and the changing landscape of journalism, a statement said on Friday. "The event featured Rajeev Ranjan, Executive Editor of News 24, as the keynote speaker, providing students with insights into the evolving landscape of journalism and the importance of maintaining integrity in the media industry," it said. Ranjan was welcomed by Vice President of MERI College, Prof. (Dr.) Lalit Aggarwal, who praised Ranjan’s journalism for its focus on the concerns of common people, calling it an example of true journalism. Prof. Aggarwal expressed appreciation for Ranjan’s significant contributions to the media industry and encouraged students to emulate his style. During his address, Ranjan drew upon his extensive experience in the media industry to emphasize that while guidance is readily available, success ultimately hinges on individual capabilities and determination. He offered practical advice on navigating the challenges of working in media and stressed the importance of effective communication in journalism. A key point of his presentation centered on the growing influence of social media on journalism and its impact on news credibility. Ranjan urged students to remain vigilant and steadfast in their pursuit of journalistic excellence, particularly in an age of digital misinformation. The workshop’s highlight was a question-and-answer session where students engaged with Ranjan on various aspects of the media industry.
