Srinagar, Aug 31 (Reporter) A day after PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti took a dig at National Conference over banned Jamaat-e-Islami, former chief minister Farooq Abdullah said she should focus on safeguarding Jammu and Kashmir.
On Friday, Mufti, while calling for lifting the ban on the Jamaat, accused NC of starting “haram” (prohibited) and halal (permissible) systems in J&K polls.
'May Allah keep her (Mehbooba) safe. Nothing can be achieved by raising fingers, rather, she should focus on safeguarding and taking forward the nation,” Abdullah told reporters in Srinagar.
Abdullah also congratulated Jamat for fielding candidates in the upcoming assembly elections.
“I congratulate Jamat for stepping out and taking part in assembly elections,” he said.
Four former members of the banned JeI are contesting polls as Independents from Pulwama, Kulgam, Devsar, and Zainapora assembly constituencies.
On the Assam Assembly ending the break for Friday ‘namaaz’, Abdullah said the time will come when this will change.
“Good things will come back again. There is unity in diversity in this country,” he said...////...
