Jalna,Nov 4 (Reporter) In a sudden political development, Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange-Patil who had earlier announced he would field candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly election, opted to stay away from the polls on Monday.
Jarange-Patil asked his loyalists to withdraw from the race and said he will not field candidates in any constituency as the list of friendly parties from Dalit and Muslim outfits had not reached him till the morning. The deadline for withdrawing nominations for the November 20 polls expired on Monday.
Jarange-Patil said the candidates of the Maratha community could not get elected on their own without the backing of Muslims and dalits.
Jarange-Patil has said that he will not take the stand of ``Put this one down".
However, he said the movement of the Maratha community for reservation will continue.
He also warned the government that Marathas will start agitation once again after the election.
Jarange-Patil said: " I had a list of candidates at 3:30 in the morning. However, the allied parties have not sent their list."
He also said leaders of the ruling Mahayuti and opposition MVA alliances were two sides of the same coin.
"So I am not supporting anyone or asking people to elect anyone"...////...
