New Delhi, Feb 20 (Reporter) Senior BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Thursday took oath as a minister in the Delhi government led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at the packed Ramlila Maidan here.
Born on February 12, 1972, Sirsa is a Member of the Delhi Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing Rajouri Garden. In the recently held Delhi Assembly elections, he secured victory by defeating AAP’s Dhanwati Chandela with a margin of over 18,000 votes.
Sirsa is currently serving as the national secretary of the BJP. He has been an active political figure in Delhi, previously representing Rajouri Garden as an MLA in the 2017 bypolls on a BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) ticket.
Apart from his political career, Sirsa has been deeply involved in Sikh community affairs. He served as the President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) twice, first in 2013 and again in 2017.
A former leader of SAD, Sirsa resigned from the party in 2021, citing personal reasons, and later joined the BJP. His role within the party strengthened when he was appointed as the national secretary of BJP in 2023.
