Imphal, July 17 UNI : In a series of coordinated operations, Manipur Police arrested four individuals across multiple districts yesterday on charges ranging from extortion and drug trafficking to theft and vehicle lifting. In a major breakthrough, police today said they apprehended an active member of the proscribed outfit National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM) on Thursday from Koirengei Awang Potshangbam Road near Keikol Police Post under Heingang Police Station in Imphal East district. The individual, identified as Sorokhaibam Pari Singh, was reportedly involved in the abduction of individuals for ransom to fund his organization, as well as in the illegal transportation of arms and ammunition. In a separate case, police arrested one Shakina from her residence in Paobitek Mayai Leikai under Wangoi Police Station, Imphal West district. Her arrest followed the circulation of a viral video showing her stealing a gold ring from a jewellery store in Wahengbam Leikai. The stolen item, valued at approximately ₹40,000, has since been recovered. In an anti-narcotics operation, Manipur Police also arrested Md. Farish Khan from the Sekmai-Khurkhul Inter-Village Road under Sekmai Police Station in Imphal West district. Khan, a resident of Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi in Thoubal district, was found in possession of approximately 1 kg of heroin (commonly referred to as brown sugar). Police sources indicate the seized contraband has a high street value, and further interrogation is underway to determine the source and intended recipients. Police also apprehended a suspected vehicle lifter from the area adjoining Sora and Khongjom under Khongjom Police Station, Thoubal district. The accused, Makakmayum Abdul Wahid of Lilong Ushoipokpi Tharaorok, Thoubal district, was caught in possession of a stolen two wheeler .
