Maha to have new housing policy, cabinet takes 8 major decisions

Mumbai, May 20 (Reporter) The Maharashtra cabinet on Tuesday announced a new housing policy with the motto 'My home, my rights', besides seven other major decisions centred on the state's development across various sectors. In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the government decided to set aside Rs 70,000 crore for the state's new housing policy with a comprehensive programme from slum rehabilitation. Specific needs of low-income earners, senior citizens, women, industrial workers and students will be given priority. The cabinet also decided to set up a compressed biogas project for which a plot at Deonar under the jurisdiction of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation will be made available on lease at a concessional rate to M/s Mahanagar Gas Ltd. It was also decided to establish a senior-level civil court at Karanja, district Washim, with approval for 28 new posts and an expenditure of Rs. 1.76 crore.
