Maha: Sena (UBT) leader Nirmala Gavit joins Shinde’s Shiv Sena

Thane, May 28 (Reporter) In a significant blow to Shiv Sena (UBT) ahead of local bodies elections in Maharashtra, its leader and former MLA Nirmala Gavit formally joined the Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during a public event here on Wednesday. Accompanying Gavit were more than a thousand women workers from Nashik district who also pledged their allegiance to Shinde’s Shiv Sena. Addressing the gathering, Ms Gavit remarked, “Our leader has changed, but the party, Shiv Sena, remains the same.” Deputy CM Shinde welcomed the new members, interpreting their shift as an endorsement of the Mahayuti government’s performance. “These workers have recognised the government’s commitment to public service and have chosen to join the Sena,” he said.
