Nashik, Mar 2 (Reporter) Union Minister of State and RPI (A) president, Ramdas Athawale, on Sunday asked Maharashtra Minister and NCP (AP) leader Dhananjay Munde to resign from the post on moral grounds in connection of the Beed sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh murder case.
While interacting with media after visiting the Kalaram temple here, he said that although Minister Dhananjay Munde is not related to the Santosh Deshmukh murder case, his close aide Valmik Karad is the main accused in the case, therefore, Munde should resign from the post on the basis of ethics.
He further said that there is a repeated demand for Munde's resignation in the Santosh Deshmukh case and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was advised that it is necessary to consider it.
Reacting on the incident of teasing of the daughter of a Union Minister of State during her visit to annual fair in Jalgaon district, he said that it is a very serious case. He also referred to incident of rape on a medical professional in Pune as also serious and said that the suspect has been arrested in that case.
To crush such tendencies, the community and villages should work together, the Minister suggested and asked the opposition parties not to do politics on this issue.
Pointing out the alleged double standards of BJP MLA Suresh Dhas, Athawale said that in case of Somnath Suryavanshi's custodial death in Parbhani, Dhas had come to Nashik and told the protesters to forgive police.
On other hand, he had demanded that the accused in the sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh case should be punished.
"It is not right to take such a stand, and the police should be dismissed in the Somnath Suryavanshi case," he said.
On the Love Jihad Act, the RPI (A) chief expressed opposition to the said Act, saying that "we do not support the Love Jihad Act."
"If two people come together because of each other's nature, it is not right to call it love jihad," he clarified...////...
