Mumbai, Apr 2 (Reporter) The city police on Wednesday issued fresh summons to stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra directing him to remain present in Khar police station on April seven in connection with multiple FIRs registered against him over his controversial comments on Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
According to police, a team of Mumbai police went to the Mumbai residence of comedian but he was not available. However, it was learnt that Kamra presently lives in Puducherry and was granted a transit bail by a local court in Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, police today said that Kamra will be provided protection once he reaches the city. The statement came in view of the threats posed to the comedian, especially from Shiv Sena office-bearer Rahool Kanal.
Senior inspector Sanjeev Dhumal of Khar police station said, “Since Kamra is an accused in a case registered at the station, we have to provide him protection.”
Recently, Kanal had said, “When Kamra comes to Mumbai, we will give him a Shiv Sena-style welcome.”
Although the Khar police have registered four FIRs (first information reports) against Kamra, they will be treated as one since the place of alleged offence, witnesses and sections are the same.
“For us, this is a case, and we treat it as one even though several cases have been filed,” Dhumal said...////...
