Maha: IMD issues Orange alert for Mumbai, Thane

Mumbai, Jul 11 (Reporter) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued an orange alert, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai and neighbouring Thane on Friday and Saturday. The IMD has also issued an orange alert for Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts of Maharashtra’s Konkan belt. “There is a monsoon trough and a cyclonic circulation has also developed over Mumbai, which has resulted in strong westerly winds. Therefore, there is a probability that the Kokan belt of Maharashtra can see heavy to very heavy rains during the period,” sources in IMD, Mumbai, said...////...
