Pune, Jun 1 (Reporter) Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Gopaldada Tiwari on Saturday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for insulting the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi in a recent interview to a news channel. Referring to interview given by the Prime Minister, he said, 'Mahatma Gandhi led India's freedom struggle and freed it from British slavery of 150 years. "We all know the real face of the Modi government. It gave Padmashri to a dancer who loudly declared that India got freedom by begging in 1947 and got real freedom in 2014... What a shame," he noted. The Congress leader observed that the country's honour has been brought down to shame around the world by indecent statement of the Prime Minister, showing disrespect to Mahatma Gandhi. 'Mahatma Gandhi's non-violent and satyagrah movement was noted around the world and after his death, the United Nations flag was flown at half-mast, while statues were erected in over 150 countries, and World Non-Violence Day was celebrated. Modi's childish, ugly attempt to underestimate unique importance of Mahatma Gandhi should be called intellectual bankruptcy,' he said. It is necessary to study 11 vows and seven social sins as enumerated by Bapu as well as what was his concept of welfare state, rather than fame of Mahatma Gandhi, Tiwari added...////...
