Maha: Absconding accused in Torres Ponzi scheme arrested, remanded to PC

Mumbai, Feb 20 (Reporter) Lalan Singh, an absconding accused in the multi-crore Torres Ponzi scheme, was arrested from a hotel in Vashi by a team of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai police, which is probing the case, an official said here on Thursday. Singh is the seventh accused arrested in the case. He was later produced before a court in Mumbai, which remanded him to police custody until February 25. He had been on the run since the matter came to light and had travelled from Uttar Pardesh to Mumbai. Police apprehended him based on a tip-off about his location. Thousands of people from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Mira-Bhayandar regions have lost crores of rupees to the fraud which was allegedly carried out by Ukrainian masterminds...////...
