Puri, May 26 (Reporter) A meeting held between the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) Director General Dr Yaduvendra Singh Rawat discussed setting up of lightning arrestors for the high-rise subsidiary temples like Bimala, Mahalaxmi, Bhubaneswari, Adi Nrusingha, and Surya Temples inside the Sri Jagannath temple complex in Puri.
The meeting held on Saturday also decided to conduct chemical cleaning and surface treatment of the outer stone surfaces of the main temple.
The meeting focused on collaborative initiatives to preserve the temple's architectural heritage, structural integrity, and cultural significance.
The meeting decided to take up the conservation and restoration works for the temple complex and the critical ones in the Garbha-Griha during the Ratha Yatra.
Issues like the completion of balance conservation and repair works of Ratna Bhandar, early completion of the ramp system for facilitating entry of aged and differently abled devotees at the North gate entrance of Shree Mandira, a provision for an air-conditioning system in Nata Mandapa, facade lighting of the temple, and conservation work of the outside sloping roof of Jagamohana were also discussed.
Both ASI and SJTA emphasised the importance of their partnership in safeguarding this iconic religious and cultural landmark.
The DG ASI was accompanied by a delegation that included DDG (Conservation), Janhwij Sharma, director (Conservation), Bhima Azmira, director (science) Manoj Bhatnagar, regional director Dr Dillip Khamari and local officials.
