Chennai, Apr 9 (Reporter) Veteran Congress leader Former TNCC President M Kumari Ananthan,
who passed away early this morning, will be laid to rest with full State honours.
This was announced Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin.
Expressing deep anguish and sorrow over his death, Mr Stalin recalled the yeoman services
rendered by Mr Ananthan as a Lok Sabha Member and as MLA for Tamil society and the
development of Tamil language.
Mr Stalin also recalled that Mr Ananthan was presented with the 'Thagai Sal' award by the
State government last year.
Terming his death as a big loss to the Tamil society, Mr Stalin pointed out as a Lok Sabha
member and and four time MLA, he earned the goodwill of the people through his tireless
work and had the distinction of securing the right to speak in Tamil in Parliament.
In recognition of his contributions , the mortal remains of Mr Ananthan would be laid to rest
with full State honours, he said and also offered his condolences to the bereaved family
members.
Meanwhile, Mr Stalin, accompanied by his Cabinet colleagues and leaders of various political
parties visited the residence of Mr Ananthan's daughter and former Telangana Governor
Ms Tamilisai Soundararajan where his body was kept, and paid their last respects.
MDMK General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP also visited her residence and paid his last
respects to the departed soul.
Leaders of almost all political parties, including the allies of the ruling DMK, including Congress,
Left Parties, VCK, MDMK, main Opposition AIADMK, PMK, BJP, NTK, condoled the death of
Mr Ananthan and recalled his contributions as a Parliamentarian and as a Legislator to the Tamil society...////...
