Jammu, Sep 28 (Reporter) A head constable was killed while two others including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) suffered injuries in an ongoing gunfight in Machhedi area of Billawar in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. “A police head constable was killed and one DySP and ASI sustained injuries on Saturday evening during an encounter between security forces and terrorists in at Kog-Mandli village in Billawar tehsil in Kathua district at around 5:30 pm,” officials said. They said that a cordon and search operation following information about the presence of a group of terrorists inside a house, the officials said adding that the firing lasted for a brief period but later resumed with both sides exchanging heavy gunfire. “During an ongoing encounter in village Kog, Mandli in Billawar area one police personnel, namely Head Constable Bashir Ahmed has sacrificed his life and one DySP and ASI has sustained bullet injuries,” said police sources.
