Hubballi (Karnataka), April 30 (Reporter) In a significant development, the JDS Core Committee on Tuesday recommended party supremo HD Deve Gowda to suspend Prajwal Revanna, an NDA candidate from Hassan parliamentary constituency, from the Janata Dal Secular following allegations of sexual assault.
The JDS core committee president, GT Devegowda, expressed support for the initiation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the sexual harassment allegations against Prajwal.
"We welcome the SIT investigation against Prajwal Revanna. We have decided to recommend to our party's national president to suspend him from the party until the SIT investigation is completed," GT Devegowda told reporters.
The Karnataka police registered a case against Prajwal and his father, JDS MLA and former minister HD Revanna, on Sunday. The charges include sexual harassment and criminal offences based on a complaint filed by their former house help.
Prajwal,33, was contesting as the BJP-JDS alliance candidate for the Hassan constituency, which went to polls in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 26.
