Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed that farmers across the state should be fully supported in availing the benefits of various provisions under the PM-KUSUM scheme for the installation of solar pumps on their farms. He instructed that the Department of New and Renewable Energy, along with all related agencies, work in coordination to achieve the set targets. CM Dr. Yadav gave these directions while reviewing the Department of New and Renewable Energy at a meeting held at Samatva Bhavan, the Chief Minister’s residence on Tuesday. Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shri Rakesh Shukla was also present. It was informed during the meeting that a campaign to install solar pumps has already been launched this year. CM Dr. Yadav reviewed its progress in detail.
Officials informed that 10 lakh solar pumps will be installed across the state by next year. The work is being carried out in a phased manner. With the installation of solar pumps on farms, farmers will not only be relieved from the high cost of conventional electricity, but the innovation will also inspire other farmers to adopt the technology. The initiative is expected to gain momentum across the state, with efforts underway to increase awareness among farmers. In the future, farmers may also have the opportunity to sell surplus energy generated through these solar pumps. Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, along with other senior officials, was present at the meeting.
