Mumbai, July 17 (Reporter) An IndiGo flight from New Delhi to Goa made an emergency landing at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) yesterday night after facing an engine issue mid-air, Mumbai airport officials said.
An IndiGo Airbus A320neo operating flight 6E-6271 from New Delhi, safely landed at 9:53 pm IST. There were 191 people on board.
The incident occurred approximately 100 nautical miles north of Bhubaneswar when the crew detected a technical fault in one engine. CSMIA activated full emergency protocols at 21:35 hours as the diverted flight approached Mumbai. Airport authorities confirmed the emergency status was lifted just five minutes post-landing at 21:57 hours.
"All passengers were safely deboarded and were assisted by terminal staff," stated a CSMIA spokesperson, confirming no disruption to overall airport operations.
IndiGo acknowledged a "technical snag" necessitated the diversion but did not specify the fault's nature.
An alternative aircraft was arranged to transport passengers to Goa after the original jet underwent mandatory safety checks. The airline confirmed maintenance procedures would be completed before the A320neo returns to service...////...
