7 killed, 2 injured after car-motorbike collision in Maha's Nashik

Nashik, July 17 (Reporter) Seven members of a family died when their car collided with a motorcycle in Vani-Nashik Road late yesterday in Maharashtra. The impact of the accident was such that the car overturned into a deep drainage channel after colliding with a motorcycle. Three women, three men and a two-year boy died in the accident. The family was returning to Dindori after celebrating the child's birthday in Nashik city. Police said the car carrying the seven occupants collided head-on with the motorcycle near Dindori around midnight. The impact caused the vehicle to veer off the road and plunge into a deep drain, trapping all occupants. When the police reached the spot, the two vehicles were found in a small canal alongside the road, the official said. Preliminary investigations indicate suffocation as the primary cause of death. Rescue teams recovered the victims' bodies today morning after extensive recovery operations. The deceased were identified as Devidas Pandit Gangurde (28), his wife Manisha (23), their son Bhavesh (2); Uttam Eknath Jadhav (42) and wife Alka (38); along with Dattatreya Namdev Waghmare (45) and wife Anusuya (40). The motorcycle riders – Mangesh Yashwant Kurghade (25) and Ajay Jagannath Gond (18) – sustained serious injuries and remain under treatment at Nashik Government Hospital.
