Bhubaneswar, Apr 21 (Reporter) A total of 9,961 Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Odisha has received sanction letters from Indian Bank, for financial support, amounting to Rs. 509.91 crore.
This initiative provides timely and transformative financial support to grassroots women entrepreneurs.
Indian Bank hosted a Mega SHG Credit Outreach Programme in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, extending critical financial support to SHGs across the state.
As part of a pan-India initiative by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Government of India, the programme reflects Indian Bank’s contribution to the national mission of empowering one crore SHG women with access to credit.
The event was graced by M. Nagaraju, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Government of India; Binod Kumar, Managing Director & CEO of Indian Bank; and Mahesh Kumar Bajaj, Executive Director of the Bank.
The programme also featured inspiring success stories from SHG members and a showcase of SHG-led enterprises across diverse sectors such as handicrafts, agri-processing, and textiles.
According to Indian Bank sources, this initiative is part of the Bank’s broader strategy to disburse over Rs. 20,000 crore to SHGs nationwide by FY 2026, positioning itself as a key driver of India’s economic growth...////...
