New Delhi, July 16 (Reporter) India, Indonesia and Australia on Tuesday held the focal points meeting to explore opportunities for collaboration in the Indo Pacific region, including in areas like marine pollution, blue economy and maritime domain awareness.
The MEA spokesperson in a post on X said:
“India-Indonesia-Australia Focal Points’ Meeting held virtually today.
“Discussions under the framework covered areas of cooperation such as marine pollution, blue economy and maritime domain awareness.”
The Indian side at the meeting was led by Paramita Tripathi, Joint Secretary (Oceania and Indo-Pacific), while the Indonesian side was led by Adi Dzulfuat, Director for Pacific and Oceanic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Australian side by Sarah Storey, First Assistant Secretary, South and Central Asia Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, a statement said.
The three sides held discussions to explore opportunities for collaboration including under the framework of Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI) and the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) mechanisms, maritime domain awareness, marine pollution and blue economy cooperation. The three sides noted convergence between India’s Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI) and ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP).
