Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that the abundant mineral resources have strengthened the foundation of the state’s prosperity. With the rich deposit of critical minerals, rare earth elements, diamonds, and precious metals, Madhya Pradesh is rapidly moving toward becoming a leader in the country’s mining sector. Recently, the geological structure of Madhya Pradesh has shown immense potential for hydrocarbon resources such as petroleum, natural gas, and coal bed methane (CBM).
According to experts, the Gondwana Basin in the eastern part of the state and the sedimentary rocks in the Narmada and Tapti valleys in the western and southern parts are highly favorable for hydrocarbons. Districts such as Shahdol, Anuppur, Umaria, Damoh, Panna, Chhatarpur, Sagar, Narsinghpur, Raisen, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, and Chhindwara have been specifically identified as having significant potential for hydrocarbons and CBM gas.
