Mumbai, May 28 (Reporter) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a spell of unsettled weather for Mumbai, with generally cloudy skies and moderate to heavy rainfall expected across the city and suburbs on Wednesday.
The IMD has further warned that scattered to fairly widespread rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, is likely to persist over Mumbai, Konkan, and Goa, as well as Madhya Maharashtra, from May 27 through June 2.
Isolated heavy to very heavy showers are forecast for parts of Konkan and the ghat areas, with the risk of extremely heavy rainfall at some locations.
For Wednesday, Mumbai is likely to see temperatures ranging from 24°C to 31°C, with humidity levels remaining high and a strong chance of rain throughout the day. The IMD has cautioned residents about possible intense downpours, thunderstorms, and gusty winds at isolated spots, which may lead to waterlogging and disruptions in local transport.
Following the early onset of the southwest monsoon, Mumbai recently recorded its highest single-day rainfall in May since 2021, with Colaba surpassing a 117-year-old record.
