Rain is expected to begin across almost all districts in the southern region from Sunday. A few districts may even see rainfall on Saturday. In Kolkata, an additional weather alert has been issued for thunderstorms and rain till Monday.

Heatwave conditions may also occur in Purulia and Birbhum. While other districts may not experience an official heatwave, the discomfort from the heat will persist.

On Friday, Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 28.8 degrees Celsius, which is 2.6 degrees above normal. On Thursday, the maximum daytime temperature was 35.4 degrees Celsius.
