HP to build Rs 1000-Cr bulk drug park sans Central govt help

Shimla, Aug 28 (Reporter) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday announced in the Assembly that the state government has decided to set up a Rs 1,000-crore bulk drug park using its own financial resources. Replying to a query by Shahpur MLA Kewal Pathania on the proposed bulk drug park in Una, the Chief Minister said that the government has decided to go solo on this Central government project as the agreement signed by the previous Himachal government was not in the interest of the state. The Chief Minister said the MoU signed by the previous government talked about providing power at very low rate to units at the drug park, a commitment which would have resulted in losses to Himachal Pradesh. Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur said it was due to PM Narinder Modi that Himachal was given this prestigious project.
