Shimla, July 18 (Reporter) The Himachal Pradesh Kisan Sabha (HKS) on Thursday submitted a memorandum to newly-elected Member of Parliament from Mandi and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut seeking her help for the implementation farmers’ long-pending demands, including guaranteed minimum support prices (MSP) for crops.
An HKS delegation, led by Khushal Bhardwaj, handed over its memorandum in the MP’s office, reminding the Narendra Modi government about the promises made after a farmers’ protest that culminated on December 9, 2022.
The Delhi border protest, which lasted over a year, saw farmers braving harsh conditions to voice their demands.
Central to the farmers' demands was the repeal of the controversial farm laws, guaranteed minimum support prices (MSP) for their crops, and comprehensive measures to ensure their economic stability.
While the government initially agreed to these terms, the promised MSP reforms are yet to materialize, the HKS said.
Bhardwaj said, "We trusted the government to stand by its word, but we have been let down time and again...////...
