Shimla, Apr 9 (Reporter) Himachal Pradesh High Court on Wednesday extended interim relief to IAS officer Harikesh Meena, an accused in the abetment to suicide case of Vimal Negi.
Negi's body was recovered from Govind Sagar Lake in Bilaspur on March 18, 2025.
Negi, missing since March 10, was allegedly driven to suicide due to workplace harassment with Meena and HPPCL official Desh Raj named in the FIR.
A single-judge bench of Justice Varinder Singh directed that no coercive action be taken against Meena until the next hearing on May 2, 2025.
The court also instructed Meena to appear in person and ordered parties to comply with the interim order.
Advocate NS Chandel, representing Meena, confirmed the development, stating, "The court has barred any coercive steps till the next date."
The case gained prominence after Negi’s family accused HPPCL officials of systematic harassment.
Earlier, the Supreme Court granted interim bail to co-accused Desh Raj on April 4 restraining coercive measures until July 22, 2025.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has filed a supplimentary status report, details of which remain undisclosed.
