Chandigarh, Dec 6 (Reporter) Ahead of the farmers Delhi March, the Haryana government suspended internet services for four days beginning Friday in some villages of Ambala district.
Demanding a law guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their produce, the farmers had announced a March to Delhi from the Shambhu border between Punjab and Haryana. They have been camping at the border since February.
An order by the Haryana Home Secretary said that mobile internet services in ten villages of Ambala district adjoining the Shambhu border will remain suspended from midnight on December 6 to 11-59 PM on December 9.
The villages are Dangdehri, Lohgarh, Manakpur, Dadiana Bari Ghel, Lahrsa, Kalu Majra, Devinagar, Saddopur, Sultanpur and Kakru.According to the order, the services have been suspended to curb rumour-mongering and maintain law and order and peace.Earlier, the Haryana government had pasted notices at the Shambhu border announcing the imposition of Section 163 (earlier 144) in Ambala which bars assembly of 5 or more persons.
The Ambala Deputy Commissioner had also asked farmers to seek permission from Delhi police for agitating there before marching towards Delhi. Opposition leaders like Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Kumari Sailja have criticised the BJP government for trying to stop farmers from going to Delhi to voice their legitimate demands...////...
