Pratapgarh, Feb 26 (Reporter) Four persons were killed and three others injured when a car they were travelling in rammed into a roadside house in Kotwali Dehat area of Pratapgarh district in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.
Police sources here said that the car lost control and rammed into a roadside house near Bhupiamau at around 3 am. "Four devotees travelling in the car died in the accident and three devotees were seriously injured. The injured have been admitted to the district hospital," they said.
Circle Officer (CO) Shiv Narayan Vaishya said that all the devotees travelling in the car were going towards Ayodhya after taking a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam at Maha Kumbh from Prayagraj. The car went out of control, rolled down the road and rammed into a house.
He said that all the seven devotees were taken out of the car with the help of villagers and taken to the district hospital where doctors declared four devotees dead. "All the deceased and injured are residents of Bihar and Jharkhand," Vaishya said.
The CO said that the deceased included Raju Singh (25), a resident of Chainpur Marhaura in Bihar, Abhishek Kumar Singh (24), a resident of Garkha, of Chhapra district in Bihar, Saurabh (26) resident of Raigarh district in Jharkhand and driver Abhishek Ojha (30).
