Srinagar, May 13 (Reporter) The flight operation resumed at the Srinagar Airport on Tuesday after a six-day halt, following a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan that eased regional tensions.
The flight operation resumed after the Aerodrome closure NOTAM (Notices to Airmen) was revoked.
Airport officials said that the first flight from Delhi landed at Srinagar at 1.30 PM.
“We are operating a total of eight flights, including both arrivals and departures," said Javed Anjum, Director of Srinagar Airport.
IndiGo and Air India have earlier cancelled their flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, and three other border cities for today.
On Monday, the Airport Authority of India said the 32 Airports, including Srinagar, that were temporarily closed are now available for civil Aircraft operations with immediate effect.
The airports were shut on May 7, in the backdrop of tension due to Operation Sindoor, a precision strike by the Indian Armed Forces on terror camps across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
Meanwhile, all schools and colleges in Kashmir, except those in the border districts, reopened on Tuesday.
Education institutes in Kupwara and Baramulla districts, and those in the Gurez sector of Bandipora, remained closed for now...////...
