Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has stated that it is the strength of ‘Swadeshi’ that has preserved our culture for thousands of years with its pride, dignity and prosperity. He said that in every era and every period, we have faced challenges with the power of ‘‘Swadeshi’ ’ and self-reliance. It was through ‘‘Swadeshi’ ’ that Mahatma Gandhi led the country to independence. Gandhiji inspired every citizen to boycott foreign goods and burn foreign clothes. CM Dr. Yadav stressed that everyone must have respect for our soil, our country, and the indigenous system. He further stated that Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya shared many similarities in their thoughts. Both were torchbearers of India’s long cultural and philosophical traditions. According to them, it is only from the seeds of self-reliance and ‘‘Swadeshi’ ’ that the tree of self-sufficiency will grow, enabling India to emerge as a major economic power in the world.

 

CM Dr. Yadav made these remarks on Thursday while addressing the state-level inauguration session of ‘Swadeshi’ Awakening Week, organized under the joint aegis of the Madhya Pradesh Jan Abhiyan Parishad and ‘Swadeshi’ Jagran Manch on the occasion of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s birth anniversary. He inaugurated the programme at Ravindra Bhavan with the traditional lighting of the lamp amidst chanting.
