Vijayawada, Mar 22 (Reporter) Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging that the upcoming delimitation exercise be conducted in a manner that ensures no state experiences a ‘reduction’ in its 'representation' in the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha.
As per the directions of Jagan Mohan Reddy, YSRCP Parliamentary leader Y V Subba Reddy has also sent the same letter to the DMK party leaders, emphasizing the need for a fair and balanced approach in the delimitation process.
In the letter to the Prime Minister, the former Chief Minister said: “I draw your attention to the potential for significant erosion of Southern States participation in National policy making and Legislative process, if the delimitation process is conducted on the basis of the State’s population as it stands today.”
Reddy, in the letter to the Prime Minister, said: “I emphasize the need to amend the constitution to give effect to such proportionate increase in seats for each State. This would ensure that no state would have to encounter any reduction in the representation in the house of the people, in terms of the share of the seats allocated to that state in the total seats...////...
