Mumbai, Jan. 9 (Reporter) In a long-awaited verdict, Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar on Wednesday ruled that the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led group is the real Shiv Sena - a development that comes as a major jolt to Uddhav Thackeray, who leads the rival group. Narwekar also ruled that Bharat Gogawale is the whip of the Shiv Sena party and not Sunil Prabhu, who is part of the Shiv Sena (UBT) - as he had ceased to reflect the will of the party when two factions emerged. “The paksha pramukh has no right to remove Eknath Shinde as the legislature party leader,” he said. Narwekar came under fire on multiple occasions for the alleged delays in delivering the verdict in what is being called the disqualification case of Shiv Sena MLAs, including Chief Minister Shinde. Narwekar pronounced the verdict in the central hall of the state assembly during the day. The Speaker completed the hearings two weeks back in the 34 petitions filed by the Shinde and Thackeray factions, along with voluminous supporting material running into over 2.50 lakh documents.
