New Delhi, May 21 (Reporter) The Department of Telecom (DoT) on Tuesday said its new initiative “sancharsaathi” has been able to recover over 1.32 lakh mobile phones and returned to their owners till now.
“Sanchar Saathi dhoond leta hai Laapataa Mobiles ka Pataa”, the DoT said on its ‘X’ handle and requested all to report any such incident on sancharsaathi.gov.in. This is for lost/stolen mobile handsets.
The department has been trying to educate citizens regarding misuse of fraud calls and messages and the way people are being cheated. “Don’t let fraudsters shift your bank balance into their pockets. For such suspected fraud messages/calls, please report to Chakshu portal at site (mentioned above,” it added.
It also cautioned people of fake apps and websites pretending to represent DoT Sanchar Saathi or Chakshu Portal. These scams may seek money or personal data, it said and asked to report such incidents immediately on the portal.
