Chennai, Mar 9 (Reporter) A meeting of the DMK MPs on Sunday resolved to work
with the Congress-led INDIA bloc and democratic leaders to unitedfly fight to
safeguard Tamil Nadu rights in Delimitation and resist attempts that penalise
states which had successfully implemented population control measures,
besides opposing Hindi imposition and NEP while demanding its fair share
of funds.
Tamil Nadu has been strongly opposing the Centre's proposed delimitation exercise
in 2026 based on population as it might stand to lose eight seats reducing the number
of Lok Sabha seats from 39 to 31, besides significantly reducing the seats in other
Southern States too.
A resolution to this effect was adopted at the meeting, chaired by Tamil Nadu
Chief Minister and DMK President held at Party headquarters 'Anna Arivalayam'
ahead of the second Budget session of Parliament beginning tomorrow.
Later, in a post on X, Mr Stalin said the DMK MPs meet has resolved to bring
together parties from affected States to resist attempt that pnalise population
cotrol.
He said apart from resolving to stand united in safeguarding TN Parliamentary
represenation, it was also decided to work with INDIA bloc and democratic forces
to uphold the State's rights in delimitation, strongly oppose Hindi imposition and
NEP, while demanding a fair share of funds for Tamil Nadu.
