Meerut, Jan 25 (Reporter) A criminal, involved in the murder of five members of a family and carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his arrest, was killed in an encounter with the police in the Lisadi Gate area of Meerut district here in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, police sources said here. Police sources said that the slain criminal Naeem was accused of the killing of his stepbrother Moinuddin, his wife Asma, and their three young daughters. "The incident came to light on January 9, when the blood-soaked bodies were discovered in their home. While Moinuddin’s body was found near a bed, the bodies of his Asma and three daughters Aqsa (8), Aziza (4), and Adiba (1) were concealed in a storage box," they said. Police sources said that Naeem alias Naeem Baba, a professional criminal, was allegedly involved in other murders in Delhi and Maharashtra. "Acting on a tip-off, police cornered him in the Summer Garden area in the morning. When challenged Naeem opened fire while trying to escape but was injured in retaliatory police action," they said. Police sources said that Naeem was rushed to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Vipin Tada described Naeem as a professional criminal wanted in multiple states. "Police recovered a weapon and other items from his possession.
