New Delhi, June 6 (Reporter) Congratulations from world leaders continued to pour in for Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he is about to take office for the third successive term, with many leaders posting messages on social media and some also calling him. Among those to call on Wednesday were French President Emmanuel Macron, the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Australian PM Anthony Albanese and Bhutan PM Tshering Tobgay.
On his phone call with the French President, PM Modi said:
“Delighted to receive a phone call from my dear friend, @EmmanuelMacron. Conveyed my commitment to work together to accomplish the ambitious 'Horizon 2047' roadmap. The strong and trusted Strategic Partnership between India & France is slated to scale newer heights in the times to come.”
On his call with the Bhutanese PM, Modi said: “Glad to speak with my friend PM @tsheringtobgay. Bharat and Bhutan ties are exemplary, unique and an important pillar of our Neighbourhood First policy. I look forward to taking this special partnership to newer heights.”
The Bhutanese PM posted on X: “Honored to speak to my friend PM @narendramodi Ji conveying the good wishes of the people and government of Bhutan. I look forward to working closely with #Modi3 to take relations between Bhutan and Bharat from strength to strength.”
On his call with the European Commission chief, Modi posted: “Thank President @vonderleyen for her call. As we mark the 20th anniversary of the India-EU Strategic Partnership, we are committed to working together to further strengthen the ties for global good. My best wishes for the European Parliamentary elections.”
The European Commission President posted: “Good to speak to @NarendraModi to take stock following the Indian elections.
“We agreed to continue discussions on strengthening our bilateral relations, including the FTA. And we looked forward to the forthcoming @G7 summit where we will discuss our joint work on global issues.”
On his talk with the Australian PM, Modi said: “Very glad to speak to my friend @AlboMP. Thanked him for the warm wishes and congratulations. Look forward to working together to strengthen India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.”
The Australian PM said: “Great to speak with @narendramodi today to congratulate him on his election victory.
“Australia and India are close friends, with strong strategic, economic and cultural ties. We look forward to growing our partnership in 2024 and beyond. Australia-India.”
Modi also received a congratulatory phone call from the Thailand PM Srettha Thavisin.
“Thank PM Srettha @Thavisin for his congratulatory call. Look forward to strengthen India-Thailand strategic partnership for the benefit of our people and the bright future of Asia. Our best wishes to Thailand for successful Presidency of BIMSTEC.”
The Thai PM in a post said that PM Modi will be visiting Thailand in September to attend the BIMSTEC Summit.
“A moment ago, I called Prime Minister @narendramodi to express my heartiest congratulations on his resounding victory at the general election concluded on 4 June 2024. Both of us are committed to working closely with one another to further strengthen the close friendship and elevate the multi-faceted Thailand - India partnership to new heights.
“While Prime Minister Modi will be visiting Thailand in September this year to attend the BIMSTEC Summit; on my part, I look forward to paying an official visit to India at the earliest opportunity to realise the full potential of our relations.”
PM Modi also received messages of congratulations from Philippines President Bongbong Marcos, the Estonian PM Kaja Kallas, Timor Leste President Jose Ramos Horta, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Guyanese President Dr. Irfaan Ali and several others.
The Limor Leste President in his message of congratulations said: “Warmest greetings and congratulations to PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI for his resounding reelection for a third consecutive term. He has led India into the 4th Industrial Revolution, Digital Age, and into the Space Age.”
The Brazilian President, in his message of congratulations, said: “Brazil and India are allies in confronting injustices in the international order and in the fight against hunger and poverty. May we meet at the G20 and IBSA Summits here in Brazil and continue working together.”
PM Modi is set to take office for the third consecutive term, after his BJP party-led National Democratic Alliance coalition notched up the numbers to form majority in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, and form the government. Modi is set to be sworn-in on Saturday...////...
