Lucknow, June 16 (Reporter) After former Congress president Rahul Gandhi's comments on the Electronic Voting Machines, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav also raised suspicion on the sanctity of EVMs and demanded that all future elections should be conducted through ballot papers. Taking to his official X handle, Akhilesh wrote, "Technology is meant to solve problems, if it becomes the reason for problems, then its use should be stopped. Today, when there are apprehensions of EVM tampering in many elections of the world and world-renowned technology experts are openly writing about the danger of EVM tampering, then the BJP should clarify the reason behind the insistence on using EVM." He said, "We reiterate our demand to conduct all the future elections using ballot papers." Earlier Rahul Gandhi said that EVMs in India are a "black box," and nobody is allowed to scrutinise them. "Serious concerns are being raised about transparency in our electoral process," he said, adding, "Democracy ends up becoming a sham and prone to fraud when institutions lack accountability."
